Q: How do I begin using greener products?
A: Choose one to three things that you can live without.
An easy first step is to buy products without artificial coloring. Many products, including toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and even soap, include coloring, which is unnecessary and doesn't add any additional performance or benefit to the product.
You can also stop buying anti-perspirants with aluminum. Studies have shown that aluminum is linked to Alzheimer's disease. Many companies have removed aluminum from anti-perspirants so just check the label before you buy.
Finally, don't purchase products with parabens, commonly used preservatives. Studies continue to show that these products, in foods, cosmetics, toiletries, and pharmaceuticals, are associated with a range of negative consequences.
